Identifying customers, employees, business partners, local communities, nature, ecology, climate, shareholders, and investors as the key stakeholders, Hankook & Company actively creates opportunities for communication by establishing channels for communication with the key stakeholders and by establishing annual communication plans, and applies to future management activities and ESG initiatives. Hankook & Company uses its website and various communication channels, optimized for each stakeholder, to disclose its ESG and management performance and plans in a transparent and faithful manner.

ESG Management System
In order to promote systematic and enterprise-wide ESG activities, Hankook & Company has formed ESG Strategy Committee, the highest decision-making consultative body at the board and management levels, and operated ESG Steering Committee, an operational and promotive body consisting mainly of executives and staff in charge of various issues, through an integrated management system.

Risk Management
In addition to ongoing management of financial risks, Hankook & Company strives for systematic management and responses to non-financial risks (e.g., social, environmental, and medical risks). In particular, ESG Focus Areas are defined as risk issues, in which we are making enterprise-wide response efforts with, through the integrated management system of the ESG Steering Committee.

Hankook & Company strongly supports and engages in UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), an international commitment for the development of sustainable Earth.

UNGC Principles

Hankook & Company respects and complies with the UN Global Compact’s 10 principles in areas such as human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.

    Rights
    • <Principle 1> Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
    • <Principle 2> make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

    • <Principle 3> Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;

WBCSD

Hankook & Company is leading the sustainable development of the industry through WBCSD activities.

WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) is a global organization consisting global corporates that are working together to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world.

In 2005, eleven internationally leading tire manufacturers, including Hankook & Company, have formed TIP (Tire Industry Project) under WBCSD. The TIP members have engaged in the research on how the raw materials of the tire and the entire process of manufacturing, use, and disposal have on the environment.

GPSNR

Hankook & Company is working hard to improve sustainability in society, economy and environment through the global platform GPSNR.

GPSNR (Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber) is a global platform launched in 2018 by various stakeholders such as NGO and corporates within the value chain of natural rubber. Those in the value chain of natural rubber pursue to fulfill social responsibilities in various areas such as the regulations, human rights, environment, and transparent management within their states.

In particular, Hankook Tire & Technology declares the SNR Policy as a GPSNR Founding Member and will strive to improve the productivity and quality of natural rubber.
