Hankook & Company shares love for the local community

January 3, 2023, Seoul, Korea – Hankook & Company, the holding company of Hankook Tire & Technology, donated KRW 750 million to the Community Chest of Korea to support the less privileged families during this holiday season.

Since 2003, Hankook & Company has continuously participated in activities to benefit the local community in conjunction with Community Chest of Korea and has since donated a total of about KRW 13.6 billion after the company’s KRW 750 million contributed this year. The donation delivered so far have been used to support less privileged families in Seoul, Daejeon, and Chungnam.

A day prior to the delivery of this year’s funds, Hankook & Company was recognized for its contribution to expand the giving culture and vitalization of Korean local communities for the last 20 years, and was given the “Happiness Award” in the Donation category during the 9th Annual Community Chest of Korea Grand Prize hosted by Community Chest of Korea.

Hankook & Company Group continues to support the local communities in Korea. In March this year, KRW 200 million in donations was delivered to the Gangwon and Gyeongbuk area to support the recovery of the communities after severe forest fires there. Since 2012, the group has been donating batteries that go into electric mobility vehicles for the disabled and low-income families in Daejeon and Jeonbuk provinces every year.

In addition, under the slogan “Driving for Happiness”, the group is also hosting a social contribution program under the theme of mobility. One example is the Traffic Safety Campaign for Children. The program has been providing various activities to educate safety guidelines for underage kids and help prevent road accidents, including an improvement of school zones.

In August of this year, Hankook & Company opened a driving school for underprivileged children at the Daejeon Traffic Culture Institute. It is contributing to enhancing traffic safety awareness by providing various content at the institute, including Mobility Experience Zone and Tire Exhibition Zone.

In addition, Hankook & Company and its employees continue to be active in community volunteer programs in line with the effort to create a healthy corporate culture that practices the value of sharing and coexistence, as seen through the employees and family members together participating in community programs such as “Mural Drawing”, “Voice Donation”, “Creating our Forest”, among others.

Hankook is recognized by prestigious institutions in the field of sustainability. In December, Hankook Tire was once again listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World for the 7th consecutive year. In the same month, the group received the Gold Prize in the Online Report Category in recognition of the company’s 2021-2022 ESG Report at the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) Spotlight Awards. Earlier this year, Hankook was awarded with Gold Class in the Sustainability Yearbook 2022 published by S&P Global.
